Best Under-Sink Water Filters (2026): What Each Certification Covers

Short answer: match the filter to the claim you need. The Aquasana AQ-6200 is the carbon filter with chloramine, lead, and PFOA/PFOS on a WQA-certified data sheet. The Waterdrop G3P800 is the tankless RO with IAPMO certification to NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 58. The iSpring RCC7 is the no-electricity tank system, certified to NSF/ANSI 58 for TDS. The Waterdrop T4-A adds an alkaline line, and its named certification is NSF/ANSI 372 only.

Updated October 6, 2026. This page used to name an Aquasana "AQ-5200," a Waterdrop "WD-601," and two brands we cannot link, with the same generic bullets on each. Those labels were wrong. The AQ-5200 line is not the product at the Amazon link. That link is the AQ-6200. The Waterdrop link is the T4-A, not a WD-601. Specs below are from the makers' pages and data sheets, read October 6, 2026. All four listings were in stock that day. We have not tested them.

Pick by the job, not by a brand list

An under-sink filter hides the hardware and feeds a small faucet at the sink. It does not treat the shower. Beyond that, the category splits.

Carbon, keeps minerals. You want chlorine or chloramine, lead, and a PFOA/PFOS line, and you do not want RO to strip dissolved solids.

Reverse osmosis. You want a membrane and a certification that names NSF/ANSI 58, or at least a performance data sheet you can read. Tankless units need power. Tank units need cabinet space and usually send more water to the drain.

NSF/ANSI 372 means the materials meet a lead-free definition. It does not mean the system was certified to reduce lead, PFAS, fluoride or anything else. This page says which standard each model actually lists.

Aquasana AQ-6200: certified carbon

The Claryum 2-Stage is two cartridges and a dedicated faucet. WQA certifies it to NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 401 for the claims on the performance data sheet.

On that sheet, read October 6, 2026:

• Chloramine 91% and chlorine 97.3%, under NSF/ANSI 42
• Lead greater than 99.7% at pH 6.5 and 99.6% at pH 8.5, under NSF/ANSI 53
• PFOA and PFOS 99.7%, under NSF/ANSI 53
• Cysts, mercury, and a VOC surrogate test, under NSF/ANSI 53
• Microplastics 99.6%, under NSF/ANSI 401

Rated capacity is 500 gallons. Flow is 0.5 gpm. Pressure is 20–80 psi. Cold water only, 40–90°F. The housing is about 4.25 × 8.25 × 9 inches. Fluoride, nitrate and arsenic are not on this sheet. Aquasana says the filter leaves calcium and magnesium in the water.

Waterdrop G3P800: certified tankless RO

Waterdrop rates the G3P800 at 800 GPD with a 3:1 pure-to-drain ratio, 10 stages, and a UV sterilizer. It needs an outlet. Size is about 18.11 × 5.67 × 17.73 inches and 32.4 pounds. Filters: composite every 6 months or 550 gallons, carbon block every 12 months or 1,100 gallons, membrane every 24 months or 2,900 gallons. Warranty is 1 year. There is no remineralization stage.

The certification line on the product page: IAPMO R&T to NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 58 for the claims on the performance data sheet, and NSF/ANSI 372 for low lead. Waterdrop also says the system reduces PFOA, PFOS, fluoride, TDS, chlorine and lead. Read the data sheet for the exact claim before you treat a marketing line as the certification.

iSpring RCC7: tank RO, no outlet required

The RCC7 is five stages and a storage tank. iSpring's FAQ says it is certified to NSF/ANSI 58 for TDS reduction, markets a 75 GPD membrane, and lists a filtered-to-waste ratio of 1:3 with the tank. It does not need power when cold-water pressure is 45–70 psi. Below 45 psi, iSpring says to add a pump. Published feed limits also include a 750 ppm TDS maximum and 40–100°F.

Pre-filters and the post-carbon are every 6–12 months. The membrane is every 2–3 years. The filter head is about 15.5 × 5.1 × 18 inches, and the tank is separate. iSpring's FAQ calls the tank 3.2 gallons.

iSpring's listing also says the system removes a long list of contaminants, including PFAS. The certification it names is TDS reduction. Buy it for that certification and for the no-power install, not for a PFAS listing the certification line does not state.

Waterdrop T4-A: alkaline line, narrower certification

The T4-A is a tankless dual-flow RO. Waterdrop rates it at 450 GPD, a 2:1 pure-to-drain ratio, 10 stages, and a smart faucet with a UV LED on each line. One line is RO water. The other adds alkaline minerals. Size is about 16.54 × 6.22 × 17.95 inches and 24.25 pounds. It needs electricity. Warranty is 1 year.

The certification Waterdrop prints on the spec table is NSF/ANSI 372. That is lead-free materials. The page also lists TDS, PFOA, PFOS, chlorine, fluoride, lead and other substances as reduced, with a note that a third-party laboratory tested them. Until that list is an NSF/ANSI 53 or 58 certification, this page will not describe the T4-A as certified for those reductions. If you want the alkaline faucet and you accept that limit, it is in stock. If you want the certified reduction claims, buy the G3P800 or the AQ-6200 instead.

Install and upkeep

All four need a drinking-water faucet and a tie-in to the cold line. A drain saddle is part of every RO install (G3P800, RCC7, T4-A). The AQ-6200 does not send water to the drain. Replace cartridges on the schedule above, not when the water "seems fine." A loaded carbon cartridge can stop reducing what it was certified for. An RO membrane that is past its gallons will let TDS climb. Manufacturers publish the interval because the test was run to that capacity.

Is the Waterdrop T4-A NSF certified for contaminant reduction?

Waterdrop lists NSF/ANSI 372. That is a lead-free materials standard. A third-party lab note on the product page is not an NSF/ANSI 53 or 58 certification.

Can I install an under-sink filter myself?

The three makers publish DIY instructions. You still need a faucet hole, or an existing sprayer hole you can reuse. Hire a plumber if you do not want to shut off the cold line. See the installation guide.

AQ-6200: 500 gallons, and Aquasana also says up to 6 months. G3P800: 6, 12 and 24 months depending on the cartridge. RCC7: pre-filters every 6–12 months, membrane every 2–3 years. Check the T4-A reminder and Waterdrop's current interval when you buy.
